Book Responses

Page history last edited by Podcasting 12 years, 1 month ago

The students use podcasting technologies to respond to books we read in school. They use podcasting to show their understanding about the plot and make connections between characters, books and other forms of texts.

We read "Henry & Mudge" books together on Team Harmony.  These books are written by the author Cynthia Rylant.  We also went to the Flynn  Theater to see the show about these wonderful characters and their adventures together.  Listen to the students letters to these characters.  Thank you!

We read books by the author Helen Lester and created a Voicethread to share our learning activities responding to the Tacky books, in particular.  Enjoy!

Mrs. McCormack's students studied books by many different authors dealing with kindness and respect.  Our Allen Brook School Motto is "Be Safe, be Kind, and be Responsible" and the students responded to these books by sharing their own ideas on how they can be a good friend and show kindness every day.  Listen to what the students had to say:

I am a good friend.mp3

Mrs. McCormack's students studied the author Kevin Henkes and voted for their favorite book.  Here are their results in a Voicethread:

Mrs. McCormack's students are currently using digital audio files and Voicethread to respond to Arnold Lobel's "Frog and Toad All Year" with Sharon Davison's Kindergarten class.  Please return for updates.

Mrs. McCormack's students responded to Faith McNulty's book  "If you ever go to the moon".  The students wrote postcards to the author and recorded them using our MP3 players.

Team Harmony's 1st and 2nd grade students learned about the moon and the sky through several weeks of workshops and lessons.  Please click here to access our Digital Portfolio representing our learning.  Below are some audio files responding to the book "Sometimes Moon", written by Carole Lexa Schaefer.
